ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore Tess Bojorquez (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente) was selected the MIAC Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Mar. 23, the league announced today. Bojorquez went 2-0 with an earned run average of 0.00 over four appearances last week at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.

Bojorquez entered the game in relief in all four of her appearances, striking out 12 and walking just one in 13 2/3 innings while earning one save. On Tuesday she pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings while striking out three to help the Scots defeat Bates, 7-6. In the second game that day, Bojorquez tossed 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief against Cortland, allowing two hits while striking out four in Macalester's 4-2 comeback win in eight innings. She also earned the win in Thursday's 12-4 victory over Blackburn with 2.0 perfect innings of relief. In the final game of the trip, a 9-5 loss to Simpson, Bojorquez gave up three unearned runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one in 4 2/3 innings. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four runs batted in.

So far this season, Bojorquez is 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA, striking out 14 batters and walking six in 22 2/3 innings over eight appearances. She also is batting .378 with four doubles, two homers and 22 RBIs.

Macalester is scheduled to play its home opener on Saturday, Mar. 29 against UW-River Falls. The non-conference doubleheader is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Macalester Softball Complex.
