HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College women's tennis team closed out its spring trip to South Carolina with a 7-0 loss to Kalamazoo College on Thursday at Van Der Meer Tennis Center. The Scots went 1-3 on the trip and are now 3-8 on the season.
All three doubles matches were close, with the Hornets (6-3) coming away with wins to earn the doubles points. Juniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) forced a tie-breaker at No. 1 doubles before falling, 7-6 (8-6). All but one singles match ended in straight sets. First year
Berkeley Cox (Sandpoint, Idaho/Sandpoint) battled Daryn Krause at No. 5 singles, eventually losing 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
Macalester resumes MIAC play on Mar. 30 with a dual at the College of Saint Benedict.
