ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College junior
Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) and sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) earned All-MIAC accolades for women's cross country, as the conference released its year-end awards today. The Scots placed two runners on the All-MIAC team, which includes the top 15 finishers at the MIAC Championships, for the first time since 2014.
At the MIAC Championships, held Saturday afternoon at Highland 9 Golf Course, Norquist took sixth individually, covering the 6000-meter course in 22:00.2. The performance is the best finish by a Scot at the MIAC Championships since
Kimber Meyer '17 took second in 2016.
Fox joined Norquist in the top 10 by finishing 10th with a time of 22:21.2. This is the second All-MIAC citation for Fox, who finished ninth a year ago and was named the MIAC Rookie of the Year.
With two runners in the top 10, Macalester placed fourth in the team standings, an improvement on last year's sixth-place finish.
MIAC champion Claire Vukovics of Carleton was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year and the Rookie of the Year, while Carleton's Donna Ricks was chosen the Coach of the Year for the 14th time in her career.
Macalester will send a portion of the team to the Cannon River Closer, hosted by St. Olaf today at 5:00 p.m. The NCAA North Region Meet is Nov. 15 in Colfax, Wis.
