ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College junior linebacker Jason Weaver (Roselle Park, N.J./Pingry) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the website announced today. The D3football.com Team of the Week recognizes standout Division III players from across the country at each position.

Weaver earned MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in the Scots' 27-6 victory over St. Olaf this past Saturday. Weaver registered a sack, a forced fumble and an interception to go with five tackles in the victory over St. Olaf. His sack was a strip sack that ended a promising drive for the Oles in the fourth quarter and gave the Scots the ball, leading to a Macalester touchdown. On St. Olaf's final possession, he sealed the win with an interception just inside the sideline. Weaver's strong play helped the Scots' defense hold the Oles without an offensive touchdown in the game. 

Through eight games this season, Weaver leads Macalester with 47 tackles on the year. He is the first Scot to be named to the D3football.com Team of the Week since linebacker Harrison Runnels '20 made the team on Sept. 11, 2018.

The Scots (3-5, 2-5 MIAC) host Concordia College on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the final home game of the season. The Scots will honor their seniors before the game, which starts at 12:00 p.m. at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium.
