ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College junior linebacker Jason Weaver (Roselle Park, N.J./Pingry) was selected the MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 2, the league announced today. Weaver had several big plays to help the Scots defeat St. Olaf, 27-6 this past Saturday at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium.

Weaver registered a sack, a forced fumble and an interception to go with five tackles in the victory over St. Olaf. Weaver's sack was a strip sack that ended a promising drive for the Oles in the fourth quarter and gave the Scots the ball, leading to a Macalester touchdown. On St. Olaf's final possession, he sealed the win with an interception. Weaver's strong play helped the Scots' defense hold the Oles without an offensive touchdown in the game. 

Through eight games this season, Weaver leads Macalester with 47 tackles on the year.

The Scots (3-5, 2-5 MIAC) host Concordia College on Saturday, Nov. 8 in the final home game of the season. The Scots will honor their seniors before the game, which starts at 12:00 p.m. at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium.
