MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team averaged a season-best 14.25 kills per set to earn a comeback win at Concordia College, 23-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-15 in the MIAC opener for both teams Thursday night at Memorial Coliseum. The Scots improve to 9-5 on the season, while the Cobbers fall to 0-14.
After Concordia tallied the final three points to win the first set, 25-23, Macalester responded with 15 kills and a .351 hitting percentage to take Set 2, 25-21. Senior outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week for last week, registered five kills in the set, with first year outside hitter
Ella Cohen-Richie (Chicago, Ill./Univ. of Chicago Laboratory Schools) adding four kills.
The Scots' offense was even more efficient and dominant in the third set, generating 16 kills against one error in 37 attempts for a .405 hitting percentage in a 25-10 win. Cohen-Richie put away six kills in the set and senior right side
Grace Galer (Hanover Park, Ill./Schaumburg) had four kills. The Cobbers fought back in the fourth set, tying the score at 14-14 before Macalester reeled off 10 straight points and 11 of the final 12 points to cruise to a 25-15 win in the set and take the match, 3-1.
Cohen-Richie led the Scots with a career-high 17 kills and a .351 hitting percentage, as four Scots registered 10-plus kills. Preston finished with 13 kills and 10 digs, junior right side
Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe) tallied 11 kills and Galer matched her career high with 10 kills. Senior

Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) shared the setting duties and racked up 26 and 19 assists, respectively. Senior libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) registered 24 digs and Norton added 15 digs to pace the defense, which held Concordia to a .063 hitting percentage.
Macalester plays a pair of non-conference matches at Cornell College in Iowa, facing Nebraska Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m. and the host Rams at 3:00 p.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
