FARGO, ND. – After some weather delays, the Macalester College men's tennis team was finally able to play its first match after their spring trip to Florida. The Scots took on Concordia for some MIAC action, and walked away with a 6-3 victory. Macalester is now 5-6 (2-1 MIAC).
Slated at No. 2 doubles, juniors
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) and
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) edged out their opponents 8-6. Then at No. 3 doubles, first year
Kevin Mortimer and junior
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) won 8-4. The Cobbers took the point at No. 1 doubles.
Junior
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) blanked his opponent at first singles in two 6-0 matches. Wood won at fourth singles in three sets (2-6, 6-3, 10-5). At No. 5 singles, Mortimer won 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). Macalester's final point came from first year
Kangyu Li (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-3). The Cobbers took the points at first and third singles.
Macalester's next match will be Thursday April 11. The Scots host Saint Mary's at Hayden Courts. The match will start at 4:30 pm.
