ST. PAUL, Minn. – In its first match on Hayden Courts in 2024, the Macalester men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 MIAC victory over the Cardinals of Saint Mary's. The Scots are now 6-6 (3-1 MIAC).

Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) defeated his opponent at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Fellow junior
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) flipped that score (6-4, 6-2) to win at fourth singles. Slated at second singles, junior
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) blanked his opponent in the first set and then only gave up on game in the second set (6-0, 6-1). First year
Kangyu Li (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) eased to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at sixth singles. At. No. 5 singles, fellow first year
Kevin Mortimer took set one 6-2 and then earned the hard-fought point by taking set two, 7-5. Junior
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Doi and Wood edged out their opponents at first doubles 8-7 (7-3 tiebreaker). Mortimer paired with junior
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) at No. 2 doubles to win 8-3. Sargent and junior
Maxwell Davis (Warwick, Pa./Stone Independent School) breezed to an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Macalester's next match will be Saturday Apr 13. The Scots host Carleton at 10:15 am at Hayden Courts.
