ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester men's tennis team hosted Carleton this morning in a MIAC matchup. The Knights proved to be a strong opponent, and Macalester fell 9-0. The Scots are now 6-7 (3-2 MIAC).
At No. 1 doubles juniors
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) made it a hard-fought battle, falling 8-5. Fellow junior pairing,
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) and
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) also battled hard at second doubles, falling 8-5. The Knights also took the point at third doubles.
Sargent and Lynch battled at first and third singles respectively, both falling 6-3, 6-2. First year
Kevin Mortimer forced hist match at fifth singles to three sets, but ultimately the point went to Carleton (4-6, 7-5, 0-1 (7-10)). The Knights also took the points at second, fourth, and sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Sunday April 14. The Scots host Saint John's at 11:00 am at Hayden Courts.
