OWATONNA, Minn. – The Macalester men's tennis team end the regular season with a 5-4 victory over the Oles of St. Olaf. This win secures the No. 4 seed in MIAC Playoffs, which begin this week. The Scots finish the regular season 8-10, 5-4 MIAC.
At second doubles, juniors
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) and
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) eased to an 8-2 victory. First year
Kevin Mortimer and junior
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) took down their opponents 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. The Oles took the point at No. 1 doubles.
Wood defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-2 at third singles. Slated at fourth singles, Mortimer forced a third set to defeat his opponent at fourth singles (4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6 tiebreaker)). First year
Kangyu Li (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) downed his opponent 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Macalester begins its playoff run on Wednesday May 1. The Scots will host No. 5 St. Olaf at Hayden Courts at 3:30 pm.
