ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester men's tennis team were just edged out today, 5-4 by the Eagles of Northwestern (MN). Macalester is now 7-9.
The Scots took one of the three doubles points. First year
Kangyu Li (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) partnered with junior
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) at No. 3 doubles and won 8-2. The Eagles earned the other two points.
Slated at No. 1 singles, junior
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) won in two sets, 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker) and 6-0. Li won at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-4. At sixth singles, Lindstrom won in two 6-2 sets. The Eagles won the points at second, third, and fourth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Saturday April 27. The Scots head to St. Peter to play Gustavus. The match begins at 11:30 am.
