ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester men's tennis team hosted competed in another conference match this evening. The Scots hosted Bethel. Macalester fought hard, but fell 7-2 and is now 7-8, 4-3 MIAC.
Juniors
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) and
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) earned both points for the Scots. Doi fought off his opponent at No. 2 singles to win 7-5, 6-4. Wood handled his opponent at fourth singles, winning 6-2, 6-0. Fellow junior
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) battled in three sets at No. 1 singles, falling 6-2, 3-6, 0-1 (7-10 tiebreaker). The Royals also earned the points at third, fifth, and sixth singles.
The Scots came close in all three doubles matches, despite the Royals taking all the points. Doi and Wood fell 8-5 at second doubles. Sargent and junior L

Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) were just edged out 8-7 (8-6 tiebreaker).
Macalester's next match will be Wednesday April 24. The Scots take a break from conference play to face Northwestern (MN) on the road. The match will start at 4:30 pm.
