TUCSON, Ariz. – The Macalester baseball team faced a tough opponent this evening in the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State. The Scots fought hard, but fell to the Mustangs 10-0. Macalester is now 1-6.
Junior pitcher
Cam Scholl (Belmont, Calif./Carlmont) held the Mustangs to zero runs in the first two innings. However, the Mustangs were able to score in the third, fifth, sixth, and eighth innings to take the game 10-0. At the bottom of the fourth, junior
Bowman Wingard (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) tripled, putting the Scots in a good position. Yet, the Scots' next two batters struck out and grounded out respectively. At the bottom of the sixth, junior
Jake Murakami (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) singled and made it to third, but the Mustangs held the Scots scoreless.
The Scots play twice on Monday March 11. Macalester plays Carthage at 11:00 am CDT and then plays Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 3:00 pm CDT.
