Women’s Basketball: Starks Named MIAC Defensive Player of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior guard/forward Peyton Starks (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs School) was named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference this afternoon.

Starks has been the Scots' leading scorer in almost every game this season, and continued her high-performance last week, averaging 19.7 points per game. She also averaged 8.0 rebounds over the three games last week, and amassed five steals and eight blocked shots.

In the narrow 55-46 loss to Hamline on Feb 10, Starks registered her third double-double of the season, totaling 22 points and 11 rebounds. She totaled 16 points and seven rebounds against Gustavus on Feb 5 and 21 points and six rebounds against St. Catherine's on Feb 7.

This season, Starks leads the Scots and the conference with 442 points, averaging 18.4 points per game this season. Makayla Anderson of Concordia ranks second, averaging 14.8 points per game.

Macalester will host Augsburg on Saturday Feb 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
