MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team participated in its final meet before the MIAC Championships at the Minnesota First Chance Meet, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center on Friday and Saturday. No team scores were kept.
Swimming in the same pool as the MIAC Championships against several Division I swimmers, the Scots turned in several strong performances. Junior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.57, followed by first year
William Haby (Denver, Colo./George Washington) with a time of 1:47.11. Sophomore
Casey Meretta (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was third in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.95, and also took fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 54.20. Junior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) finished fifth in the 60-yard freestyle in 21.87. Sophomore
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham) finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.74.
Ryan McNeff (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) swam lifetime bests of 2:12.74 in the 200-yard butterfly and 2:12.64 in the 200-yard individual medley.
The MIAC Championships will be held Feb. 14-17 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
