ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team begins the postseason on Monday, Nov. 4 with a quarterfinal match at Augsburg at 7:00 p.m. in the MIAC Playoffs. The Scots are the sixth seed, while the Auggies earned the No. 3 seed.

This is the 10th consecutive appearance in the MIAC Playoffs for Macalester, who finished the regular season 12-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play. The Scots are led by senior forward
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy), who has a career-best 12 goals and four assists for 28 points this season. Sophomore forwards
Chris Frantz (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and
Cody Da (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) each have scored six goals, with Frantz adding six assists. Senior forward
Grant Luce (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) leads the Scots with seven assists. So far this season, Macalester has allowed just 17 goals in 17 games thanks in part to the play of senior goalkeeper
Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) and junior defender
Nick Kent (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park).
Augsburg, 11-3-5 overall, placed third in the MIAC standings with a 5-1-4 record. The Auggies feature Tomas Menna, who has eight goals and five assists this season, and Remus Repcak, who has 12 assists. In the regular-season finale on Friday, Nov. 1, Repcak scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute of a 2-1 Auggie win at Macalester Stadium. Da scored for the Scots, who held a 20-9 advantage in shots. Macalester is 2-0 against Augsburg in the MIAC Playoffs, including last year's 2-0 win at home in the quarterfinals. The Scots beat the Auggies 3-2 at Edor Nelson Field in the 2021 quarterfinals.
Macalester has a 4-2-1 record in the quarterfinal round of the MIAC Playoffs, and an 11-12-1 record in all MIAC Playoff games. The Scots won the 2009 playoff title. The quarterfinal winners will advance to Thursday's semifinals, with regular-season champion Gustavus hosting the lowest remaining seed, and No. 2 St. Olaf hosting the other semifinalist. A Macalester win on Monday would send the Scots to Gustavus for the semifinals.
