ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team lost a hard-fought MIAC contest to St. Olaf, 1-0 Saturday afternoon at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium. The Scots are now 3-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play, while the Oles move to 8-1-2, 3-1-1 MIAC.
In the first half Macalester put three shots on frame, with sophomore defender

Ashlyn Ryan (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) stopped all four shots that St. Olaf put on goal in the first half.
Early in the second half, senior midfielder
Ella Short (Denver, Colo./Denver East) ripped a shot that just missed the upper right corner of the goal in the 49th minute. The game remained scoreless until the 69th minute, when Marit Klagge centered the ball just past the outstretched hand of Ryan to Chloe Valleau, who scored from six yards out for a 1-0 Ole lead. The Scots were held without a shot the rest of the way, as St. Olaf ended a two-game losing streak to Macalester.
Ryan registered eight saves in goal for the Scots, who were out-shot, 18-6 for the match.
Macalester hosts UW-Superior on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The non-conference match starts at 7:00 p.m. at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium.
