WINONA, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team lost on the road to one of the MIAC leaders in Saint Mary's University Tuesday evening at Ochrymowycz Field. The Scots are now 5-7-3 overall and 2-5-2 in the MIAC, while the Cardinals (11-2-3) improve to 7-1-1 to remain in second place in the conference standings.
Saint Mary's got on the scoreboard in the 36th minute, when Hannah Bradley ran onto a long ball from Maya Wunschel and scored from 15 yards out on the left side for a 1-0 lead. Then in the 61st minute, the Cardinals doubled their lead when Macava Smith knocked the ball in off a corner kick.
Macalester put two shots on goal for the game, as Saint Mary's held a 13-3 advantage in shots taken. Sophomore goalkeeper
Abigail Heuga (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School of San Francisco) registered six saves in goal for the Scots.
Macalester plays an important MIAC game at Hamline University on Saturday, Oct. 26. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul.
