NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A goal by first year midfielder
Elijah Edelman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) in the 90th minute allowed the Macalester College men's soccer team to earn a 1-1 tie at St. Olaf Saturday afternoon at Rolf Melby Field. The 21st-ranked Scots are now to 6-1-4 overall and 2-1-2 in the conference, while the Oles are 5-3-1, 3-0-1 MIAC.

Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./ Benet Academy) kicked off the game with a shot up high, forcing a save from Ole goalkeeper Peter Forseth. Senior forward
Branko Sciortino (Los Altos, Calif./Bellermine College Prep) and sophomore defender
Nick Kent (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park) created chances in the half as well. Junior goalkeeper
Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) saved four chances, denying St. Olaf and keeping the game level at the break.
The Scots put pressure on the Oles early in the second half, creating opportunities. Sophomore midfielders
Alex Beck-Ruiz (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) and
Tanguy Lesegretain (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills), first year forward
Cody Da (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery), Haenicke, and Kent came close but had their attempts saved. The Oles were able to get one past the Scots in the 62
nd minute to take the lead. Macalester never gave up and Edelman blasted the ball into the net, just seconds before the final whistle to draw 1-1 with the Oles.
Macalester returns to Macalester Stadium on Oct. 7. The Scots kickoff at 2:30 p.m. against St. Scholastica.
