ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester women's soccer team came back to Macalester Stadium today for a non-conference matchup. The Scots hosted the Falcons of UW-River Falls. The game was evenly matched, but the Scots fell just short 1-0. Macalester drops to 4-4 (2-1 MIAC).
The Scots started the first half with back-to-back shots from senior
Mia Brisbin (Los Angeles, Calif./Crossroads School). First year
Julia Hanson (Weston, Mass./Weston), sophomore
Maia Lemov (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), and junior
Mikaely Evans (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) created offensive opportunities, but the game remained scoreless at the break.
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the 53
rd minute, which ended up being the deciding factor of the game. First year
Adi Nhouyvanisvong (Wayzata, Minn./Minnetonka) had two strong chances go just over the net in the second half. Junior
Ella Short (Denver, Colo./Denver East), Brisbin and Evans forced saves from the Falcons' goalkeeper, but the Scots were unable to find the back of the net.
The Scots' next game will be Wednesday Sept 27. Macalester picks conference play back up with a home matchup against Bethel. Kickoff at Macalester Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.
