Women’s Soccer: Macalester Suffers Defeat on the Road

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Macalester women's soccer team took the drive up to Moorhead for a conference matchup with Concordia. An early goal proved to be the difference, and the Scots fell 1-0. Macalester is now 4-3 (2-1 MIAC).

The Scots started off on the backfoot, with a Cobbers goal in the 10th minute. Junior Ella Short (Denver, Colo./Denver East) had her attempt to tie the game saved by the Cobbers' goalkeeper in the 13th minute. First year Timna Nevo (Portland, Ore./Sunset) also had a shot saved in the first half.

First year Adi Nhouyvanisvong (Wayzata, Minn./Minnetonka) immediately forced a save from Concordia's goalkeeper, just seconds after the second half whistle blew. Both teams battled hard to create chances. First year goalkeeper Abigail Heuga (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School of San Francisco) totaled four saves in the second half to keep the game close, but Macalester weren't able to put one past the Cobbers, and fell 1-0.

The Scots' next game will be Sunday Sept 24. Macalester takes on UW-River Falls in a non-conference matchup at Macalester Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
