EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The No. 7 regionally-ranked Scots traveled to Wisconsin for a non-conference matchup against No. 6 regionally-ranked opponent UW-Eau Claire. The women's soccer team battled to the end, but fell 2-0 to the BluGolds. The Scots are now 4-2 (2-0 MIAC).

Ashlyn Ryan (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) made a quick save in the second minute of game. The Scots then took control for the next 20 minutes, with seniors
Mia Brisbin (Los Angeles, Calif./Crossroads School) and
Ella Thomsen (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) creating chances and forcing the BluGolds' goalkeeper to make saves. However, in the 36
th minute, UW-Eau Claire was able to take the lead and go 1-0 into the half.
In the second half, Brisbin, Thomsen, first year
Adi Nhouyvanisvong (Wayzata, Minn./Minnetonka) and junior
Gabriela Valle (Compton, Calif./Chadwick School) immediately created offensive chances for the Scots. Despite the Scots' efforts, they didn't find the back of the net. The BluGolds doubled their lead in the 74
th minute and Macalester fell 2-0.
Ryan made five saves while first year goalkeeper
Abigail Heuga (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School of San Francisco) finished out the game with two saves.
Macalester's next game will be Saturday Sept 23. The Scots head to Moorhead, for a MIAC game against Concordia. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
