Baseball: Macalester Drops Two Against Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Macalester College baseball team faced a tough Gustavus team this afternoon, on the road in St. Peter. The Scots fell in both games, 12-0 and 14-2. Macalester drops to 9-9 (1-3 MIAC) while Gustavus improves to 11-8 (6-0 MIAC).
 
In game one, the Gusties got off to a 10-0 lead after three innings. Sophomore Ryan Przespolewski (Spring, Texas/Oak Ridge) denied the Gusties a hit in the fourth. Gustavus put up two more runs in the fifth and the Scots fell 12-0. The Scots were limited to just three hits.
 
Junior Matt Rade (Westborough, Mass./St. John's) started on the mound in game two for the Scots, allowing no hits in the first inning. The Gusties then went up 6-0 in the bottom of the second. Both teams scored a run in the third. Senior Joe Margolis (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) scored off an error by the Gusties. In the top of the fourth, junior Charlie Burton (Round Lake, Ill./Round Lake) hit an RBI single to plate fellow junior Matt Mukai (Foster City, Calif./Aragon) and trail 7-2. However, the Gusties continued to increase their lead, and take the game 14-2.
 
Burton was 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two. Senior Anthony Palma (Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman) was also 2-for-3 in game two.
