MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team rounded out the regular season, competing against a tough Gustavus side. The Scots fell 9-0, but finish fourth in the MIAC and will continue its season in the playoffs. Macalester finishes the season 11-6 (7-3 MIAC).
At No. 3 singles, junior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) kept the first set close, falling 6-4, before falling 6-1 to drop the match. Fellow junior
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) was able to win two games in the first set, and three in the second set at No. 1 singles.
First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) battled in their match at third doubles, but fell 8-3. The Gusties won at first and second doubles 8-2.
As the fourth seed, Macalester will host No. 5 St. Olaf in the quarterfinals of the MIAC Playoffs. The match is scheduled for Wednesday April 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Today, the Scots honored its seniors
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo),
Kari Myhran (Shafer, Minn./Chisago Lakes),
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission), and
Talia Bank (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bard). The Scots return 11 to the court next season.
