ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team ended its season with a 5-3 loss to No. 5 St. Olaf in the quarterfinals of the MIAC Playoffs this evening. The No. 4 seeded Scots finished the 2023 season with a record of 11-7 (7-3 MIAC).
Senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) earned the Scots a point at No. 2 doubles, defeating their opponents 8-2. First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) fought hard at No. 3 doubles, but were edged out 6-8. The Oles also earned the point at No. 1 doubles.
Junior
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) eased past her opponent at No. 3 singles, winning in two 6-2 sets. Haugen also won her singles match, at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-3. However, the Oles were able to win at first, fourth, and fifth singles to win the match.
Ulrich led the team with a 12-5 (8-3 MIAC) record for the season. Sorajja and Reynolds led the Scots in doubles with an 11-3 (8-2 MIAC) record at No. 2 doubles this season.
This marks the last competition at Macalester for seniors, Sorajja,
