ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team competed at Hayden Courts for the first time this season, hosting St. Olaf. The Scots battled hard and came out on top 5-4. Macalester is now 11-5 (7-2 MIAC).
Junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) registered the Scots' lone doubles point at second doubles, defeating their opponents 8-4. First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were edged out in their No. 3 doubles match, falling 8-7 (9-7). Slated at first doubles, juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) fell in a close 8-6 match.
Ellison battled back to earn the point at No. 1 singles. She won the three-set match 4-6, 6-3, 10-3. Ulrich also won a three-set match at No. 3 singles (5-7, 6-0, 10-5). Sorajja won at fourth singles in two 6-4 sets. Haugen eased to a victory at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1. St. Olaf won the point at second and fifth singles.
Macalester is scheduled to close out the regular season on Sunday April 23 at 5:00 p.m. The Scots will host Gustavus at Hayden Courts.
