NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team traveled to Northfield to take on MIAC opponent Carleton. The Scots fought hard, but fell 8-1 to the Knights. The Scots are now 9-5 (5-2 MIAC).
First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) earned the Scots' lone point at No. 3 doubles, defeating their opponents 8-6. Juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) battled at No. 1 doubles but fell 8-6. The Knights took the point at second doubles.
Trevathan's match at fifth singles went to three sets but she fell 6-2, 2-6, 0-1 (6-10). Carleton took the points at first, second, third, fourth, and sixth singles as well.
Macalester's next match is scheduled for Saturday April 15. The Scots will head to Sartell, MN for a 3:30 p.m. match against Saint Benedict.
