ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis competed in a MIAC match against Bethel this afternoon and won 9-0. The Scots are now 9-5 (5-1 MIAC).
Slated an No. 1 doubles, doubles sophomore
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and senior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) eased to an 8-1 victory. At third doubles senior
Josh Marine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Summit) and sophomore
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) breezed to an 8-2 victory while sophomore
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) and senior
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) paired at No. 2 doubles for an 8-4 win.
Sargent and Marine both won in two sets of 6-1 at first and sixth singles respectively. Sullivan took second singles 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Doi won 7-6, 7-5. Korolev blanked his opponent at fourth singles in two 6-0 sets, while sophomore
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) earned the point at fifth singles (6-0, 6-3).
Macalester's next match is slated for Saturday April 15 at 12:00 p.m. The Scots head to Sartell, Minn. to take on Saint John's.
