ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team faced Bethel this afternoon in a MIAC matchup. In a hard-fought battle, the Scots fell 6-3. Macalester is now 9-4 (5-1 MIAC).
Slated at No. 2 doubles, junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won the Scots' lone double point, defeating the Royals 8-2. First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were just edged out at third doubles 8-7 (7-4).
However, Trevathan and Haugen were able to register points for Macalester at fifth and sixth singles respectively. Trevathan defeated her opponent in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 10-7). Haugen won her match in two 6-3 sets. The Royals were able to score points at first, second, third, and fourth singles.
Macalester's next match is scheduled for Friday April 14. The Scots will head to Northfield and take on Carleton at 4:00 p.m.
