WINONA, Minn. – In its first match back in Minnesota, Macalester College women's tennis team traveled to Winona for a MIAC matchup against the Saint Mary's Cardinals. The Scots showed their dominance, and registered a 9-0 victory. Macalester is now 8-3 (4-0 MIAC).
 
At first doubles, juniors Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) defeated their opponents 8-4. Meanwhile, while junior Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) paired at No. 2 doubles and won 8-3. First years Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and Elizabeth Trevathan (St.  Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) had a tough battle at third doubles, but came out on top 8-7 (7-1 tiebreaker).
 
Reynolds won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles, while Sorajja won 6-0, 6-3 at fourth singles. Ellison was victorious at No. 1 singles (7-6, 6-4). Haugen easily defeated her opponent at sixth singles 6-0, 6-1. Trevathan won at fifth singles 6-2, 6-1. At third singles, Ulrich forced her match into three sets to earn the point (3-6, 6-4, 10-3).
 
Macalester's next match will be Thursday April 6. The Scots face Hamline at Inner City Tennis courts in Minneapolis. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
