MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team continued its winning streak, defeating MIAC opponent Concordia, 8-1. The Scots keep a perfect record, 6-0 (3-0 MIAC).
All three doubles pairs won their matches 8-6. Juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) won at first doubles, while junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) were victorious at No. 2 doubles. The point at third doubles went to first years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy).
Reynolds and Sorajja, at second and fourth singles respectively, each blanked their opponents in two 6-0 sets. At third singles, Ulrich won 6-1, 6-2. Slated at fifth singles, Trevathan won 6-3, 6-0. Haugen battled at sixth singles, winning in three sets (7-5, 6-4, 12-10). The Cobbers took the point at first singles.
Macalester's next match will be Monday March 13. The Scots travel down to Orlando, Fla. for their spring trip. Macalester will play Franklin and Marshall College, beginning at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
