ORLANDO, Fla. - On the last day in Florida, the Macalester women's tennis team fought a tough battle against the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern. The Scots came close, but fell 5-4. The Scots finish the week with a record of 1-3, and are 7-3 (3-0 MIAC) overall.
First years
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Savvannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) earned the Scots a point at third doubles, cruising to an 8-1 victory. The Polar Bears took the points at first and second doubles.
Junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) won at second singles, after forcing a third set (1-6, 6-4, 10-6). Senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won at fourth singles in three sets (2-6, 6-1, 10-6). Trevathan also forced a three set match at fifth singles and defeated her opponent 2-6, 6-1, 11-9.
Macalester will return to Minnesota and pick up conference play on Saturday April 1. The Scots will travel to Winona, Minn. to take on the Cardinals of Saint Mary's. The match is set to start at 1:30 p.m.
