ORLANDO, Fla. – The Macalester College women's tennis team rallied from last night's match and swept Ohio Wesleyan 9-0. The Scots are now 7-1 (3-0 MIAC).
Slated at No. 1 doubles, juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) defeated their opponents 8-4. Junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) took down their opponents 8-3 at second doubles. In the No. 3 doubles match senior
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) and junior
Talia Chait (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) eased to an 8-1 victory.
Ellison defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-3 at first singles while Reynolds won at second singles 6-1, 7-5. Ulrich took the point at third singles (6-4, 6-3). At No. 4 singles, Sorajja won 6-1, 6-2. First year
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) eased to victory in two 6-1 sets at fifth singles. Meanwhile, first year
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) eased to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
Macalester's next match will be Wednesday March 15. The Scots play North Central College at 9:30 a.m. CDT in Orlando, Fla.
