ORLANDO, Fla. - The Macalester men's tennis team continued play down in Florida this morning against North Central College. The Scots fought against the Cardinals but fell, 8-1. Macalester is now 5-4 (2-0 MIAC).
Slated at No. 1 doubles, senior Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and sophomore Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) played to a tiebreaker, but fell 8-7 (8-6 tiebreaker). The Scots also lost at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Sophomore Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) was the sole winner for the Scots at No. 3 singles. Doi won in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 10-6). Sophomore Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) forced his match at No. 6 singles into three sets, but ultimately fell to his opponent (4-6, 6-1, 5-10). The Cardinals also took the points at first, second, fourth, and fifth singles.
The Scots wrap up their spring trip on Friday March 17 at 2:00 p.m. CDT. Macalester will play Ohio Northern.
