MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team started off the 2023 season with a commanding 9-0 win over UW-Superior. The Scots start the season 1-0.
Juniors
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle), slated at No. 1 doubles, and first years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) won first and second doubles respectively by a score of 8-2. First years
Sedona Crosby (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and
Mimi O'Connell (Needham, Mass./The Rivers School) paired at No. 3 doubles, and won 8-3.
Slated at No. 1 singles,
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) won 6-3, 6-1. Reynolds (6-0, 6-3) and Ulrich (6-1, 6-2) won second and third singles respectively. At No. 4 singles, Trevathan won 6-0, 6-1. Haugen won fifth singles in two sets of 6-1, and senior
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) won 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Friday Feb 10. The Scots play MIAC opponent St. Scholastica at 4:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
