MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team hosted UW-Superior at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. The Scots fought hard, but fell 6-3 to the Yellow Jackets. Macalester is now 1-1 on the season.
Senior
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) & sophomore
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) took the win at No. 3 doubles, defeating the Yellow Jackets 8-6. The Scots fell 8-6 in both first and second doubles.
Korolev also won his match at fourth singles (7-6, 6-4). Slated at No. 2 singles, senior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) won in two sets of 6-4. Sophomore
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) went to three sets at No. 3 singles, but fell 6-4, 5-7, 9-11. The Yellow Jackets also took points at first, fifth, and sixth singles.
The Scots' next dual will open up conference play. Macalester competes against St. Scholastica on Friday Feb 10 at 4:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
