MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team hosted St. Scholastica for its first MIAC game of the season this evening. The Scots beat the Saints 6-3. Macalester is now 2-1 (1-0 MIAC) on the season.
Slated at No. 3 senior
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) & sophomore
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) commanded an 8-2 victory. Senior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and sophomore
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) fought hard at No. 1 doubles, but fell 8-6. The Saints also won at No. 2 doubles.
Sullivan eased to victory at second singles, winning both sets 6-1. Sargent, slated at No. 1 singles, defeated the Saints 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) and Korolev won at third (6-2, 6-3) and fourth (6-3, 6-1) singles respectively. Sophomore
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) took the point at No. 5 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4. St. Scholastica won at sixth singles.
The Scots' next match will be against Northwestern (MN) on Saturday Feb 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
