MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team continued its winning ways tonight against Northwestern (MN). The Scots defeated the Eagles 8-1. Macalester is 3-0 (1-0 MIAC) so far this season.
Juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) paired at No. 1 doubles to win 8-4. Winning by the same margin, junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) took the point at No. 2 doubles. First years
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were victorious at No. 3 doubles (8-3).
Ellison won at first singles in two sets (6-1, 6-3). Reynolds and Ulrich, slated at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively, both defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-1. Senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) battled to win the point at fourth singles (6-4, 6-3). Trevathan won fifth singles (6-2, 6-0) and Munster won sixth singles (6-2, 6-3).
Macalester's next match will be Saturday Feb 25. The Scots play non-conference opponent Luther at 4:00 p.m. at Rochester Tennis Connection, in Rochester, Minn.
