ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team remains undefeated this season, winning it's fourth straight match today. The Scots defeated the Norse of Luther College for the first time, 6-3. The Scots are 4-0 (1-0 MIAC) so far this season. This is the program's best start since 2012.
Slated at No. 1 doubles, juniors
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) coasted to an 8-4 victory over the Norse. First year
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and senior
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) defeated their opponents by the same score at No. 3 doubles. At second doubles, junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) edged out their opponents, 8-7, to get the point.
Ulrich made quick work of her first set at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1. She won the match in two sets, edging her opponent, 7-6 in the second set. Sorajja breezed to a victory at fourth singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. Trevathan battled to victory at No. 5 singles (6-1, 7-5). The Norse won at first, second, and sixth singles.
Macalester's next match will be Friday March 3. The Scots play MIAC opponent St. Catherine at 7:00 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
