NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team turned in several strong performances in a dual meet at Carleton Saturday afternoon at Thorpe Pool. The Knights won the team competition, 187-106.
Macalester won three individual events and a relay. First year
Will Haby (Denver, Colo./George Washington) captured the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:15.72. He also placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.97. Junior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) sprinted to victory in the 50-yard freestyle, winning in 22.07. Sophomore
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) finished second behind Kisker in 22.58. First year
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.00 while also taking second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.89) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.83). Palli also was third behind Moore in the 100 freestyle.
Others with runner-up performances included junior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), who was second in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.51) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.41); senior
William Nicholson (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely), who placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (58.69) and the 200-yard back stroke (2:12.79); and sophomore
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover), who was second in both diving events.
In the final event of the dual, Macalester's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Batsaikhan, Moore, Palli and Kisker won with a time of 1:29.74.
Macalester hosts Hamline in the first home meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 10. The meet begins at 5:30 p.m. in Riley Pool.
