ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team held off Saint Mary's University to win in four sets, 25-23, 25-19, 27-25, 25-21 in the season finale Friday night in the Leonard Center. The victory gives the Scots a season record of 9-16 overall, including a 3-8 mark in conference play. The Cardinals end their season at 11-19, 3-8 MIAC.
After the match, Macalester honored its seniors as a part of Senior Night. Middle blocker

In the first set, the Scots trailed 15-10 and 22-18 before battling back. A kill by junior outside hitter
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), two services aces by first year setter
Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) and a pair of Cardinals' attack errors gave Macalester set point, 24-22. After a Saint Mary's kill, Preston put the set away with her sixth kill of the set for a 25-23 win.
The Scots edged ahead of the Cardinals in the second set with three straight points, including two kills by Tokuhama, to take a 22-18 lead. Following a Saint Mary's point, Macalester closed out the set with a kill from sophomore right side
Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe West), a Cardinals' hitting error and an ace by junior
Nicole Norton (Brussels, Wis./Southern Door), 25-19. Preston and Rahe each had five kills. In the third set, the Scots built a 24-20 lead to set up match point, only to have Saint Mary's tally seven of the final eight points to take the set, 27-25. Junior middle blocker
Stephanie Geber (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) led Macalester in the third set with five kills.
Looking to end the match in the fourth set, the Scots led 8-6 before the Cardinals used an 8-2 run to lead, 14-10. Macalester still trailed, 18-17 when a pair of kills by Preston sparked a 4-1 run to put the Scots on top, 21-19. Saint Mary's tied the score at 21-21, but two kills by Rahe, an ace from Preston and a match-clinching kill by Tokuhama in her final match as a Scot gave Macalester the victory, 25-21. It was Tokuhama's career-high eighth kill of the night.
Preston added six more kills in the fourth set to finish with a team-best 21 kills. Rahe registered a career-high 17 kills, while Geber tallied 10 kills and six blocks. Morrow turned in an excellent all-around performance with 50 assists and a team-best 26 digs. The defense also was led by junior libero
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) with 19 digs and Norton with 17 digs. Fritz recorded four kills and two blocks, and Janzen had three digs in their final match as a Scot.
Macalester returns 15 players for next season.
