ST. PAUL, Minn. – The No. 4 seeded Macalester men's soccer team hosted No. 5 seeded Augsburg for the quarterfinals of the MIAC Playoffs. The Scots put on an impressive performance this afternoon, defeating the Auggies 2-0. The Scots move on to the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs.

Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) made an early save just three minutes in to begin the game. The Scots quickly took the ball down to the other end, creating their own chances. After a corner kick for Macalester, the ball was bouncing around the box. First year defender
Charles Wriedt (St. Paul, Minn./Central) had his shot blocked, but it got put right in front of first year forward
Chris Frantz (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove). Frantz blasted the ball into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. Just minutes later, first year midfielder
Elijah Edelman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) had a fantastic chance, but his header went just over the goal. In the 24

Kasdan Blattman (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine) cracked one against the crossbar. The Scots continued to press, and went into halftime with the lead.
The Scots doubled their lead in the 57
th minute. Edelman's corner kick found the head of junior forward
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) who knocked the ball down and into the net. The Scots limited Augsburg's chances and Price tallied four saves in the final 45 minutes to keep the clean sheet.
The Scots move on to the semifinals, which is set for Thursday Nov. 2. Macalester heads to Northfield to take on No. 1 seeded St. Olaf. Kickoff will be at 2:00 p.m.
