NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 4 seeded Macalester men's soccer team competed in the MIAC Semifinals this afternoon, traveling to Northfield to take on regular season champions, No. 1 seeded St. Olaf. The Scots battled to the end, but fell 2-1. The Scots end their postseason run with a record of 11-3-5 (5-2-3 MIAC).
Macalester quickly took the ball into their offensive half, creating dangerous plays. Junior forward
Grant Luce (Seattle, Wash./Ballard) created a few chances for himself, forcing a save from the Oles' goalkeeper Peter Forseth, and putting one just shy of the post. First year midfielder
Kasdan Blattman (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine) and junior forward
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) also created chances up top for the Scots. However, the Oles struck in the 31
st minute and took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Oles doubled their lead in the 50
th minute off a penalty kick. The Scots responded less than 10 minutes later. In the 57

Elijah Edelman (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) converted a free kick to close the gap. Junior goalkeeper
Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) made two important saves in the second half to keep Macalester in the game, but the final whistle blew, and the Scots fell 2-1. The Oles will face Gustavus in the MIAC Championships on Saturday.
The Scots await to hear from the selection committee on Monday to see if they will receive an At Large bid to the NCAA tournament.
