ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team opened the 2023 season with a dual against University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Scots defeated the Pointers 8-1 to start the season 1-0.
The Scots swept the Points in all the singles matches. Sophomore
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) won first singles 6-4, 6-0. Slotted at No. 2 singles, fellow sophomore
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) won his match in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 11-9). Senior
Josh Marine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Summit) and junior
Lewis Jolly (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) both won their matches in two sets, at third and fourth singles respectively. At no. 5 singles, sophomore
Maxwell Davis (Warwick, PA./Stone Independent School) won in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 10-4) while fellow sophomore
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) won 6-1, 6-3 at no. 6 singles.

Martin Stoner (South Bend, Ind./Adams) each defeated the Pointers 8-0. At no. 1 doubles, senior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) and sophomore
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) fell in a close match 6-8.
The Scots' next dual sees them facing off against the Yellowjackets of University of Wisconsin-Superior. The match is set for 6:30 p.m. on Feb 4 at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
