HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Macalester College volleyball team began its trip to New Jersey with a 3-0 victory over William Paterson Friday night at the Castle Point Challenge, hosted by Stevens Tech. The Scots, who won by scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-16, improve to 7-4 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 4-2.
In the first set, first year
Grace Watkins (San Angelo, Texas/Georgetown) recorded three of Macalester's eight kills, while sophomore
Stephanie Geber (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) had three blocks to lead the Scots to a 25-17 win. The offense picked up in the second set with 12 kills, including four from sophomore
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) and three apiece from Geber and sophomore
Gwen Wooten (Allen, Texas/Allen), in a 25-19 victory. In the third set, the Scots hit .321 with 11 kills and just two errors in 28 attempts to complete the sweep, 25-16. Geber notched four kills and Preston had three kills in the final set.

Maya Mortenson (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) delivered 17 assists to go with 10 digs. Defensively, Geber finished with five blocks, while senior
Eliza King (Novato, Calif./San Marin) and sophomore
Torrance Williams (Houston, Texas/Yes Prep Northbrook) had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Macalester plays two matches on Saturday at the Castle Point Challenge, facing Wentworth at 9:00 a.m. Central and the host Ducks at 1:00 p.m. Central.
