Box Score Moorhead, Minn. – Macalester College women's soccer team took on the Concordia Cobbers this afternoon in its first MIAC game of the season. The Scots were victorious, winning 1-0. The Scots remain undefeated and improve to 4-0-2 (1-0-0 MIAC).
First year
Sophie Jones (Burien, Wash./Highline) started Macalester's attack early, taking a shot in the third minute. In the 14
th minute, junior
Ella Thomsen (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) saw her shot saved by the Cobbers' keeper. Thomsen and first year
Maia Lemov (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) continued the Scots' offensive press. Just before the half ended, Thomsen was able to put one into Concordia's net, with an assist from Lemov.
In the second, junior
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) made her second save of the game in the 55
th minute to keep the Scots ahead. Thomsen was very active on the offense, taking three shots in the second half. Macalester's defense suppressed Concordia's offense and the Scots walked away with a 1-0 victory.
Macalester returns to Macalester Stadium on Saturday Sept. 17. The Scots will play Augsburg in another MIAC matchup. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
