Northfield, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team traveled to Northfield to take on the Oles of St. Olaf. Macalester dominated the court, securing a 7-2 victory over the Oles. The Scots are now 11-5 (7-1 MIAC).
In doubles play, first year
Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and junior
Matthew Sullivan (Tacoma, Wash./Weil) beat their opponents 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. While the Oles would take the point at No. 2 doubles, senior
Alexander Poland (Madison, Wis./Madison West) and first year
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) got the victory at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
At No. 2 singles, senior
Karsten Knutsen (Minneapolis, Minn./Riverfield Country Day (Okla.) won in two sets, 6-0 and 6-4. First year
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) beat his opponent at No. 3 singles in two 6-2 sets. Sullivan breezed through to 6-0 sets to take the point at No. 4 singles. After being forced into a third set, junior
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) won the last set 1-0 (10-6) to win at No. 5 singles. Poland won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. The Oles got the point at first singles.
The Scots' next match is scheduled for Friday April 29. The Scots will host Carleton at 6:45 p.m.
