St. Paul, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team competed in its fifth MIAC competition of the season, hosting Saint Benedict this afternoon. The Scots came up short, and fell 9-0 to the Bennies. The Scots are now 4-8 (1-4 MIAC).
Sophomores
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) put up a fight, getting edged 8-7 at No. 1 doubles. The Scots' pairing of Juniors
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) also had a close match with the Bennies at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-6. The Bennies also took No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
At No. 2 singles, Reynolds came close in the first set, falling 7-6 (7-4), before falling 6-1 in set two. Ulrich made it tough for Saint Benedict at No. 3 singles, but the Bennies came out on top in two 6-4 sets. The Bennies also took first, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles.
The Scots' next match is at home on Saturday April 9 at 10:00 a.m. The Scots take on Gustavus Adolphus for another MIAC dual.
