Minneapolis, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team played its second conference matchup of the season tonight against St. Catherine. The Scots fell 8-1 against the Norse. The Scots are now 2-2 (1-1 MIAC).
The Wildcats took victories in all three doubles matches. The closest matchup was at No. 2 doubles where juniors
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) battled to a close 8-5 loss.
The Scots' sophomore
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) registered another No. 2 singles for the season. Reynolds beat her opponent in two sets, 6-3 and 6-2. At No. 3 singles, sophomore
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) was forced into a three-set match, winning the first set 6-4 and losing the second 6-2. Ulrich came close in the final set, but fell 10-7, giving St. Catherine the points. Munster had two hard fought sets at No. 4 singles, falling 7-5 and 6-4. The Wildcats also won at first, fifth and sixth singles to secure an 8-1 victory over the Scots.
The Scots' next competition will be in Eau Claire, Wis. against the BluGolds of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. The Scots will start at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday March 5.
