Minneapolis, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team competed in its third MIAC competition today against Saint Mary's. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Cardinals squeaked out the win, 5-4. The Scots are now 4-6 (1-2 MIAC).
Sophomores
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and
Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, PA./Carlisle) pulled out a tough No. 1 doubles victory 8-7. Juniors
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) and
Avery Munster (San Luis Obispo, Calif./Mission) also had a back-and-forth match at No. 2 doubles but came out on top 8-6. The Cardinals took the point at No. 3 doubles.
Munster commanded the court at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Reynolds also took victory at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. The Cardinals overtook Macalester at first, third, fifth, and sixth singles.
The Scots will return to action on Sunday March 27 at 11:00 a.m. against St. Scholastica for another MIAC matchup.
